Baking cookies is so much fun! Of course the kids always eat more of the dough then they actually cut out, but that is okay, I remember doing that too and I loved it:)

Christmas at the Gogan house

Grandpa asked me today:”Connie is this the first Christmas you celebrate this year?” and I had to answer in the affirmative:) YES, this is our first Christmas in the States (and the first Christmas we celebrate this year:). I have to admit that I do miss my Christmas markets and all the good smells we have in Germany around Christmas. It is hard to describe to someone who has never been to my country what I am talking about. Germany is tiny and therefore everything is close together. We have a pedestrian area in every city, town or village where vehicles are prohibited and people go shopping and just chat and relax. I miss that, it is so nice to just go downtown and go to the Christmas market; get some fruit punch and some Bratwurst and walk around and look around and enjoy. It was an interesting experience to see how people prepare for Christmas here in the big United States:)

Grandma and Grandpa came over today and that was the highlight of the day. We did sing some songs and the kids played the Christmas story. Off course I had not have the time to make costumes so the play wasn’t as good as it could have been, but the children loved doing it and we loved watching them. We unwrapped presents and then played with the children for a while. Later on we played together with the older children and that was also a lot of fun. Of course every good day has to end too soon Grandma and Grandpa were gone again.

So we prepared all December long for this one special day to celebrate our Saviors birth. It is indeed a very special day, a victorious day over death and hell. Our Savior was born and freed us from the effects of Adam’s fall. I never can comprehend what this actually means and I ponder that a lot, but I feel a deep love for Jesus Christ and I am grateful for all he has done for me. We read:

“O how great the goodness of our God, who prepareth a way for our escape from the grasp of this awful monster; yea, that monster, death and hell, which I call the death of the body and also the death of the spirit.” (2Nephi 9:10)

Opa hat mich heute gefragt: “ Na Connie ist das dass erste Weihnachten das ihr dieses Jahr feiert?” und ich musste das natuerlich bestaetigen Ja, das ist das erste Weihnachten das wir in den Staaten feiern (und natuerlich auch das Erste das wir dieses Jahr feiern:)und ich muss zugeben das ich Deutschland mit all den schoenen Weihnachtsmaerkten vermisse. Es ist schon schwer jemanden der noch nie in meiner Heimat war zu beschreiben wie es ist in einem kleinem Land zu leben wo alles eng zusammen ist. Waehrend der Weihnachtszeit wenn alles so gut duftet und die Weihnachtsmaerkte alle offen sind, das ist schon toll!

Oma und Opa sind heute gekommen und das war der Hoehepunkt des Tages. Wir haben erst gesungen und dann haben die Kinder die Weihnachtsgeschichte gespielt. Ich hatte natuerlich keine Zeit Kostueme zu machen und deswegen hat das alles nicht so toll ausgeschaut wie es haette sein koennen. Wir hatten trotzdem eine schoene Zeit; die Kinder haben gerne gespielt und wir haben ihnen gern zugeschaut. Danch haben wir die Geschenke ausgepackt und dann haben wir mit den Kleinen gespielt. Spaeter haben wir mit den grossen Kindern gespielt und das hat auch viel Spass gemacht. Wie immer gehen die schoenen Tage zu schnell vorbei und ehe wir uns versehen haben waren Oma und Opa auch schon wieder weg.

Wir haben uns den ganzen Dezember auf diesen einen besonderen Tag vorbereitet. Es ist wirklich ein besonderer Tag, der Tag an dem wir die Geburt unseres Erloesers feiern. Der Herr ist geboren um uns von den Konsequenzen des Falles Adams zu erloesen. Ich bin immer vollkommen ueberwaeltigt von diesen Gedanken und kann nicht erfassen was das wirklich bedeutet, aber ich verspuere tiefste Dankbarkeit und Liebe fuer meinen Heiland.
Wie es geschrieben steht:
„O wie gross die Guete unseres Gottes, der einen Weg bereitet damit wir dem Zugriff dieses furchtbaren Ungeheuers entrinnen koennen, ja, jenes Ungeheuer, Tod und Hoelle, womit ich den Tod des Leibes meine und auch den Tod des Geistes. (2Nephi 9:10)

Connie and Kenyatta Pinder with Charlize and Orelio. Kenny and Teri are buddies and had a lot of fun together. Kenny is the coolest and all our kids love him. Connie is the sweetest and Lucy and Leah always call her "Connie Mama"

Connie und Kenyatta Pinder mit Tochter Charlize und Sohn Orelio. Kenny und Teri sind Freunde und hatten viel Spass miteinander. Kenny ist echt toll und alle unsere Jungs finden ihn super. Die Connie ist so lieb und meine zwei kleinen Toechter haben sie immer "Connie Mama" genannt.

Our two little Cuties!!

This is Gabriel (older) and Samuel. They love to play together. Gabriel is alittle rough with Sami because he does not realize that Sami is still so little. They are great buddies and love each other.

Das sind Gabriel und Samuel. Die zwei spielen gern miteinander. Gabriel der aelter ist ist ab und zu ganz schoen grob, aber nur weil er nicht versteht das der Sami noch so klein ist. Sie sind ganz tolle Freunde.

The cold snow - Der kalte Schnee:)

Thomas and Mario had fun playing in the snow. They decided to take a snow bath and discovered that snow is cold. Look for the expression on Thomas' face; it is priceless!!

Thomas und Mario hatten soviel Spass im Schnee zu spielen. Nach einiger Zeit haben sie sich entschieden ein "Schneebad" zu nehmen und haben ganz entsetzt festgestellt das Schnee wirklich kalt ist. Schaut euch mal den Gesichtsausdruck von Thomas an; der ist echt unbezahlbar:)

Gogan Family

Well as a first time blogger this might take a while to get adjusted to. Shelly (Belly) got me into this which is great. Here is the family:

We are a little bit older then the picture it was taken a month or two before we left Germany. So hair styes have changed and so has some of their height, but gerneraly speaking we look the same :)
